Strelecky bids a fond farewell …
North Riverside, IL – Join North Riverside Recreation Community
Theater founder and veteran director John Strelecky as he presents
his final NRRCT production, MAME. Strelecky, who founded NRRCT in
1989 and has directed over 15 plays, along with his wife, Kathy,
have worked tirelessly to keep the theater group growing and
prospering throughout the years. The Streleckys plan to retire to
Florida in the coming months to be closer to two of their three
children.
MAME is the story of one of America's favorite eccentric aunts who
unexpectedly finds herself the guardian of her 10-year-old nephew.
The story is based on the biography of Patrick Dennis, which first
became a play and then a movie before it was adapted into the 1966
Tony Award-winning musical written by Jerome Lawrence, Robert E. Lee
and Jerry Herman. MAME first appeared on Broadway May 24, 1966, and
ran for an amazing 1508 performances.
With such colorful characters as the flamboyant Aunt Mame, the
wise-cracking Agnes Gooch and the booze-soaked Vera Charles, Mame is
as uproariously funny and packed with energy as it was when it first
appeared on Broadway 35 years ago. As for the songs, you probably
know them by heart. Aside from the classic title number, “Mame,” the
score includes such upbeat classics as "We Need a Little
Christmas," "Bosom Buddies," and "Open a New Window.”
MAME
opens on Friday, March 26th and continues through Saturday, April
3rd at the North Riverside Village Commons located at 2401 S. Des
Plaines Avenue, North Riverside, Illinois. Evening performances will
be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Thursday, April 1st
at 7:30pm. There will be two performances on Sunday, March 28th
– at 2:00pm and at 6:30pm. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for
seniors and students with ID, and $6 for children under 12. For
